Bacon and Waffle (cone)-Maple Rice Krispie Treat

Bacon and Waffle (cone)-Maple Rice Krispie Treat

I had some extra time on my hands today (it’s a rare thing), and I didn’t know what to do! I found this awesome recipe for Bacon and Waffle (cone)-Maple Rice Krispie Treat on Culinary Concoctions by Peabody, and I couldn’t resist the urge to give it a try.

Before we get to that, let me tell you a short story because it’s interesting. Today was my day to sleep in, but my dog decided at promptly 5:23 that it was time to chase the cat from one end of the house to the other. During this chase, the cat turned around, slapped the dog in the head, and walked away ending the chase with triumph. I’m telling you, don’t get a dog that weighs less than your cat. Don’t.

Thankfully while I cooked, both pets were sleeping. So I quietly stumbled around the kitchen making my masterpiece. I know this recipe is a little out there, but when you try it, you’ll realize it’s the greatest thing you’ve ever had! Honestly, it doesn’t take much time to make. Your hands hurt after mixing the ingredients, but who even cares because WOW! SO DELICIOUS!

The recipe was so good that I had to call my sister to let her know. She answered my call and was more than pleased (read: not at all interested) to hear about the bacon and waffle maple rice krispie treats. Nonetheless, I will definitely be making these for Valentine's Day Sunday dinner with the family. It's definitely going to show them how much I love them!

6 TBSP unsalted butter
16 ounces marshmallow
12 ounces Rice Krispie cereal
2 cups crushed waffle cone
1 pound (yep, a pound) of bacon, fried up and crumbled…with a few pieces missing I am sure once you smell the pig candy you have to have some
½ cup maple syrup, grade B

Butter a 9-x-13 inch pan.
In a large pot, over low heat add butter. Let melt.
Add marshmallows. Stir with butter. Let them melt until almost all of the marshmallows are in liquid form, add maple syrup.
Once melted, take off of heat. Add cereal, bacon, and waffle cone pieces. Mix and mix until your hand gets tired and all the ingredients are equally distributed as best you can. And don’t pick the bacon out as you are doing this…because you know you want to.
Let firm up for an hour or so. Cut and enjoy.
