The Gravy Remedy

The Gravy Remedy

One thing I've been making a lot lately is what I call the JFC bowl (Recipe coming soon), and that requires gravy! As some of you may know, I'm a vegetarian, so finding store-bought gravy is often very hard; even mushroom or onion gravy most times has some kind of meat product in it. My solution to this was to learn how to make my own, and I've been trying to perfect this recipe for a while now! This recipe I normally make with vegetable broth, but that can be substituted for beef or pork, or anything of your choice.

Ingredients

2 TBS - Butter

2 TBS - Flour

2 Cups - Broth

1 1/2 tsp - Soy sauce

2 tsp - Herbal Remedy

1 tsp - Garlic powder

1 tsp - Onion powder

As needed - Salt

As needed - Pepper

How to:

-Put butter in a saucepan and melt on the stove at medium heat

-After butter is melted, whisk in flour, stirring constantly until a paste is formed.

-Cook mixture for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

-Pour in broth, whisking constantly until all ingredients are evenly mixed.

-Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.

-Add soy sauce, Herbal Remedy, Garlic Powder, and Onion Powder.

-Once ingredients are evenly incorporated, add salt and pepper to taste if desired.

-Stirring frequently until thickened, remove from heat a little before the desired thickness is reached, the gravy will thicken as it cools.

-Serve and enjoy!
